I love how this project turned out and was so fun, quick and easy to make that I just had to share it with you! It’s perfect for your garden, as a gift, or even use as a wedding favor.

Supplies:

Mason Jar Hanger

Mason Jar Lid Insert

4 oz. Quilted Jelly Canning Jar (You can find these jars almost anywhere but I purchased mine in store)

Spray Paint – Your Choice of Color/Brand (I used a Gloss Finish)

Humming Bird Nectar

Steps To Making Your Own DIY Bird Feeder

Step 1 – Spray paint your new jar lid with a color of your choosing. Be sure when you spray paint that you do so in a well ventilated area, preferably outdoors on a non windy day, and wear some protective gear.

Step 2 – Remove the lid that came with the original canning jar. Place the newly painted and dried lid on top of the jar.

Step 3 – Screw the new mason jar hanger on to the canning jar. That’s It…. Your Done! Easy Peasy…..Of course you have to add the nectar to the jar….those birdies are going to very hungry!

Designer Tip: I suggest making sure your lid fits on to the jar prior to adding any bird nectar….you don’t want to spill it. The lid maybe a tight fit at first …but give it a gentle push and it will pop right in!

How fun and easy was that to make? I loved making this project for my Mom as a Mother’s Day gift along with the Floral Bird Perch I made to go with it. I know you will enjoy making it too!

Comment below and let me know if you enjoyed this post and if you made your own Bird Feeder….I would love to see it!

Happy Crafting!

Wow I’m so sorry for only getting this message, my son had a near death medical issue July 12th and it’s been a long recovery. He’s doing much better and I’m now starting to work on my blog. I purchased both the inserts and the lid with the chain already attached from Michael’s. They still have them in store I saw them a week ago May 18, 2020.

I understand your concerns as birds are truly fragile creatures. The original lid I purchased is not painted which would still be an good option to use. The bright red flowers I think will attract the hummingbirds as well. Thank you for your comment.
